One Small Act of Kindness was created and started almost a year ago from an idea on a Sunday night to help and assist communities and places that are missed or not assisted by other organisations. With more help and assistance from the communities these places would be able to run a little more smoothly and assist or reach more than they are currently. Our aim is to assist old age homes, community foster homes, animal welfare's, townships, locations, underprivileged nursery schools, the homeless as well as shelters. We assist families too that need are in need of assistance once off as life runs away with us and it’s a once off pick me up that gives people a little bit of hope to carry on whether it be clothing or a meal hamper.
We have a Facebook page that we update and utilise as a communication tool, which in turn through the members of the page and also members of surrounding community Facebook pages assist with our initiatives for collections and drives for the causes which we wish to support.
We have various drives throughout the year which people get involved with, however we do random drop offs during the month too as we receive donations throughout the month. In our first six months of operation from June –December 2016 we have completed 49 Drop offs ranging in various sizes and definition.
We always obtain permission to post photographs of individuals who receive and these also serve as evidence and drawing individuals into the experience of giving and making a difference.
